Samsung Galaxy NX announced, becomes the world’s first interchangeable Android powered camera with LTE connectivity

After some leaks, Samsung has announced the Galaxy NX, which becomes the world’s first Android powered interchangeable lens camera that also features LTE. It features an 20.3-megapixel APS-C sensor, and it is incredibly fast with a shutter speed of 1/6000. Samsung says that it will be compatible with all of its NX series interchangeable lenses but it has also added a new fish-eye lens.

Internally, it is powered by a quad-core processor clocked at 1.6GHz, which presumably is the Exynos 4412 which powers the Galaxy S III and the Galaxy Camera. Additionally, it has a 4.8-inch 720p display. Samsung says that it has implemented a hybrid auto focus system on the camera, and it has a separate image processing engine in place separate from the quad-core application processor.

As far as the software is concerned, the camera is powered by the latest version of Android which is Jelly Bean 4.2.2. Samsung has also added the ‘Smart Camera’ mode from the Galaxy S4, Galaxy S4 zoom and the Galaxy Camera, but this time around it has more than 30 modes.

Smart watch that alerts you if you're too drunk to drive

Smart watch that alerts you if you're too drunk to drive

Too drunk to drive? Your watch can tell!

Engineers have developed a new watch, with a built-in breathalyser, that warns you when you're too drunk to drive.

The Kisai Intoxicated's sensor is made from stainless steel and features an LCD display.

It reads the alcohol level in your breath and judges if you're too tipsy to climb behind the wheel.

Users have to simply blow into the side of the watch after boozing and the screen turns red if they're over the limit.

"The display on the right of the screen shows 10 different levels of blood alcohol content. A green display showing 0.00 percent means you're sober. A yellow display showing between 0.41 and 0.60 percent means you're buzzing. A red display showing 0.61 percent or above means you're drunk," according to TokyoFlash, the Japanese makers of the watch.

The snazzy-looking digital watch even features a sobriety game that lets you test your reaction time between drinks, The Sun reported.

The gadget will cost 65 pounds. It uses a rechargeable battery which takes 3 hours to charge. Based on average use of the breathalyser, the battery should last for one month on one charge and has a lifetime of over 300 charges.

As well as an integrated breathalyser, the watch has date, time and also an alarm mode.

Skype evolves into a Snapchat competitor with Video Messages

Staying in touch with friends and family while on-the-go is insanely easy nowadays, since most of us are always connected all the time. But who wants to call people these days? We all text or chat instead. Well, now you don’t have to just text. Instead, you can video text to your heart’s content. As of today, Skype now offers unlimited video messaging to all of its users. Previously, this feature was limited to just 20 messages per free account. A premium account was required to use it more.
But before you get too excited, we should let you know: there are some limitations. As of now, this is available only on Mac, Windows 8 and Windows desktop, iOS, Android, and BlackBerry. So if your device of choice doesn’t fall into any of those categories (sorry Windows Phone users), you’re out of luck … at least, for now. But it’s not all bad news. Though Windows Phone users can’t send video messages, Skype says that any device is capable of receiving and viewing one, as long as it has the Skype software installed.
To create a video message, there are four steps:
Tap the Video Message icon.
Tap Record to start filming a clip up to three minutes long.
Review your video to decide whether to keep it or send it.
Tap the envelope icon and off it goes!
If you’re more of a visual learner, check out this quick, minute-long video tutorial, but seriously, we think you’ll get the hang of it quickly. Watch the video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=88nDTJyEIz4

AT&T unveils solar-powered charging stations in New York City

AT&T unveils solar-powered charging stations in New York City

New York City prides itself on being a city powered by innovation, but only in recent years has the city truly begun to embrace cutting-edge technology as a major part of its infrastructure. The latest experiment to hit the city's streets is called Street Charge, a tool that, if successful, could become the gold standard for marrying mobile computing with green tech in major urban centers in the U.S.

Introduced today by AT&T, Goal Zero, and design studio PENSA, the outdoor outposts are solar-powered stations that allow mobile device users to easily plug in their smartphones and tablet devices via six USB ports (including iPhone 4 and 5 ports, and a mini USB port) to get a quick power boost on the go. Goal Zero gave the public its first peek at the setup last year during a test outing in Brooklyn's Dumbo area, a local start-up hub. During that testing phase, the outposts also included Wi-Fi, but these new stations are, for the time being, offered only as power sources.

The initial rollout will start today in select neighborhoods in Brooklyn, Manhattan's Union Square, Hudson River Park and Central Park (during SummerStage), as well as Randall's Island and Governor's Island. Once these stations become more widespread, they could also serve as emergency power sources during disasters like last year's Hurricane Sandy which saw thousands of New Yorkers trolling the streets for outlets to power their devices.
